Sigma Lambda Gamma

Sigma Lambda Gamma was founded in 1990 by five women who wanted to empower Latina women. Today, the historically Latin-based sorority is known for its multicultural membership, as a sisterhood that includes more than 110 nationalities. The sorority has 10,000 total initiated members such as Tamika Henry (Miss Guyana Universe 2010) and actress Vannessa Vasquez (The Mission). Sigma Lambda Gamma has over 150 undergraduate chapters on college campuses and 32 alumnae associations with women who are “positively influencing the global community.”

Gammas have a heart to help others--especially those who are underrepresented and underserved. As part of its philanthropic efforts, the organization started the Drive to 25 campaign to spread cultural awareness and empower other women. Additionally, chapters partner with breast cancer awareness organizations such as Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and they have worked with organizations such as the American Heart Association, Voto Latino, and Federal TRiO Programs. By lifting up others in need, SLG women brighten the world around them wherever they go.
