Known as “The Faithful Sisters,” Phi Mu members are women of their word. Originally founded as "The Philomathean Society” in 1852, Phi Mu is the second oldest female fraternity in the U.S. Phi Mus like Tony-nominated actress Dana Ivey (The Addams Family) and aviator Jerrie Mock (first woman to fly around the world alone) make an impact wherever they go. With a mission to serve others while providing personal and academic development, the fraternity inspires sisters to live a “vibrant” life and improve the world around them.
According to their Creed, Phi Mus love “to lend to those less fortunate a helping hand.” Since 1896, the fraternity’s 123 collegiate chapters have supported Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals as a philanthropic partner. Every year, members raise over $500,000 for hospitals in the nation through community events such as cook-offs and dance marathons. In fact, in 2016, the sisterhood became a Million Miracle Club member for raising more than $1,000,000 for the Network’s hospitals.
