Lambda Pi Chi sisters are “Women of Strength, Women of Character.” The organization was founded at Cornell University in 1988, becoming the first Latina-based Greek sorority to be established at an Ivy-League university. Lambda Chi is open to college women of all backgrounds while maintaining the Founders’ vision to promote “the Latino Culture,” “the Community,” and “the Sisterhood.” Pi Chi works towards building a strong network of women who empower each other, achieve their goals, and serve underrepresented communities.
Sisters are passionate about pursuing personal and professional development. The sorority’s goals include promoting scholastic excellence, networking, and mentorship, as well as hosting cultural events and serving local communities. Members have participated in initiatives such as Project L.E.A.A.P. to educate on aids awareness and Proyecto H.A.C.E.R. to provide academic and professional resources for women in need. By giving back to others, Lambda Pi Chi has become a lasting, supportive network of sisters with the same goals and vision.
