Sigma Iota Alpha

Known as Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Sigma Iota Alpha aims to “formalize, cultivate, and foster bonds” among its sisters. In 1990, the Latina-oriented sorority was founded by 13 women from four colleges and universities in New York. Over 100 chapters and colonies in the U.S. include women of all backgrounds who cherish values of Solidarity, Inspiration, and Friendship. Sisters such as actress Gloria Garayua (Fun With Dick and Jane, Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder) work hard to go after their dreams.

Including local, national, and international partnerships, Sigma Iota Alpha operates on three different levels of community service. The college sorority’s philanthropy partners include One Heartland, helping children with or affected by HIV and AIDS. Members have also supported organizations like the Special Olympics and the March of Dimes. Sigma Iota Alpha has a passion for influencing the next generation of young women through the R.O.S.E. Mentorship Program. Helping others in personal and professional development, sisters become leaders who are ready to take on the future.
